This Full Stack Developer (UI/UX) opening sits within the Portfolio Management Group in Mumbai, supporting the Global Fixed Income team, whose active fixed income strategies span a wide range of investment styles and segments of the fixed income universe. This full stack developer role exists because portfolio managers and analysts need fast, reliable, well-designed web applications to do their work. You'll own the development and maintenance of responsive web applications across both frontend and backend layers, building the user interfaces investment professionals interact with daily and the server-side services and APIs that feed them. The emphasis on UI/UX means your work is judged not only on whether it functions correctly, but on whether the people using it can move through complex fixed income workflows without friction.
As an Analyst-level engineer, you'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. You'll sit alongside teammates who understand fixed income deeply, so you'll pick up domain knowledge as you build. BlackRock operates a hybrid work model with at least four days per week in the office and the flexibility to work from home one day, a structure designed to accelerate learning and onboarding for new joiners through in-person collaboration and apprenticeship.
In your first three to six months, you'll get familiar with the existing codebase and the Portfolio Management Group's application landscape, ship frontend features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React or Angular, and begin contributing to server-side services in Python, Java, or Node.js. You'll participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities, and take on debugging and performance optimization work as you build confidence with the stack and the domain.
From here, BlackRock's technology career path is deliberately structured for both vertical and horizontal movement. Engineers typically progress from Engineer I (Analyst) to Engineer II/III (Associate), then into Senior Engineer and Lead Engineer roles at Vice President level, with a genuine choice between a Tech Leadership individual contributor track and an Enterprise Leadership team management track further along.
Responsibilities
✓Develop and maintain responsive web applications across both frontend and backend layers for portfolio management users
✓Build user interfaces using modern web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks such as React or Angular

✓Work with relational and NoSQL databases to store, retrieve and manage application data efficiently at scale

✓Debug, troubleshoot and optimize applications for performance, usability and day-to-day reliability
✓Participate in code reviews, automated testing and deployment activities across the software development lifecycle

✓Support application monitoring, issue resolution and continuous improvement of user-facing and backend systems
Who You Are
✓1-3 years of relevant professional work experience building and shipping web applications end to end
✓Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, or Node.js
✓Proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks like React or Angular
✓Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices and general web application architecture patterns
✓Hands-on experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases in a production application context
✓Working knowledge of Git, version control workflows and basic CI/CD concepts and pipelines
✓Familiarity with debugging tools, software testing approaches and performance optimization techniques
✓Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyse defects, identify root causes and validate fixes
✓Willingness to work from the Mumbai office at least four days per week under the hybrid model
